Travel in Scotland in 8 days - Our Family itinerary

The trip to Scotland was an old dream, probably triggered by the 1986 film Highlander, in which Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery use their swords to seek to win the final prize and, in the meantime, cut the heads off each other… As a child, the footage of the film filmed in Scotland Highlands was imprinted in my mind, and going there was a must do.
Scotland was then chosen as our first destination as a family to three, and also the first time we would have to fight against the traditional phrase "do not travel with children". Well we went there and it was a wonderful trip, just perfect.

Of course, being our first trip with a one-year-old son, we tried to prepare everything and organize it completely differently from what we had done on trips without a child. We also tried to see the opinion of other parents who had made the trip with children and, his coments gave us confidence to move forward.

We had as main objective to travel to the Highlands but, we could not miss the main cities of Scotland, namely Edinburgh and Glasgow, also influenced by the film Trainspotting of 1996 and, for the desire to go to the festival Fringe, the biggest festival of art which takes place in Edinburgh in August.
Therefore, we have outlined the following itinerary:
Day 1 - Landing in Edinburgh - Fringe Festival
Day 7 – From Fort William to Glasgow, passing by Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park
Our itinerary includes car hire after our last night in Edinburgh and return it to Glasgow airport. As Scotland is not a big country, we sought to enjoy and get to know the maximum during our stay, knowing that with a baby the pace would always be different, as well as the need to respect sleep and feeding times.
Once again, we leave the suggestion to take the baby stroller, which can go free on the plane, and always gives a great help in trips. In the following publications we will speak in detail about our stay in Scotland.
