Tips for Traveling With Kids

Traveling to the distant and mysterious city of Tokyo is a dream come true for many of us who love to travel. However, from an early age, we got used to associating the idea of traveling to Tokyo with the high price associated with that trip and that has always been one of our concerns, especially since we started traveling with our son because Family travelers know that travel costs increase with parenting.

Trying to overcome these fears, it was not until 2018 that we finally managed to make one of our dreams come true and to know one of the cities that most delighted us to know, and that we really advise visiting, because we had a wonderful experience that we will surely repeat.

Is Tokyo expensive?

Before answering this question, we invite you to visit our post to get to know our Tokyo city trip and itinerary in detail (click here for our 4 day Tokyo itinerary).

But let's go looking to answer the real question and the reason for our post: is it expensive to travel to Tokyo?

Traveling to Tokyo by plane often tends to be very expensive. However, we will not address much about the price of air travel to Tokyo. Of course, this always depends on your place of origin and, in our case, a trip from Europe to Tokyo is never cheap, but we can also guarantee that it is currently possible to do it at prices that would have been impossible to reach a few years ago. which has allowed more and more people to visit the city, the capital of Japan.

Now what we were afraid of was the cost of living in Tokyo, because for many years we had heard stories of the absurd prices of, for example, buying a watermelon in Tokyo, which really made us terrified and wondered how we could afford our money. stay in the city.

However, after our experience in Tokyo, in a nutshell, we are forced to say that while this is not the cheapest destination in the world, we can consider that a good holiday can be spent at prices that are cheaper than for example, many of the European cities we have visited.

So let's get down to business and leave our suggestions on how you can save money on your trip to Tokyo.

1- How to save on your stay in Tokyo?

This is a question that can scare a lot of people and the truth is that it scared us a lot. However, if you book in advance, you will find that you can get a very acceptable price for a good room in Tokyo. One of the issues for those traveling with children is the increased price for family rooms, but what we found is that there are hotels that allow a child to stay up to a certain age free of charge if they sleep in their parents' bed. So that's what we did, during our stay our 7-year-old son slept in our room and we just had to pay his breakfast apart. For a reasonable quality room, 3 stars, well located in our opinion, we paid in July 2018 less than € 80 per night which we considered a very good price when compared to cities like Paris, New York or London where we paid much higher values.

In addition to the need to book several months in advance, we recommend that you book with the possibility of free cancellation and, as your travel date approaches, go through the different offers to find better options.

Another of the secrets of marking a good hotel is the location. Unlike other major cities, Tokyo cannot be said to have a center. Instead, it has several centers, and the key to a good location for your stay is to stay by the Yamanote train line. This is a circular line that runs close to the city's main attractions, and being located at a station on this line will ensure you quick and easy access to just about anything you want to see in Tokyo.

Another option we didn't use because we don't consider it the best for our family but may be great for many travelers is the ability to sleep in a Capsule Hotel. In addition to being a different and very “Tokyo” experience, it is one of the best ways to get accommodation at really low prices.

2- Always ride on public transport  (or walk)

Another issue we recommend to save money is to always use public transport. In Tokyo, Taxi and Uber are extremely expensive and we only recommend them as a last resort. Even in the last need, it is to be avoided. For example, the train crashes near Haneda Airport shortly after midnight, but there is still a chance to go by night bus (see here our post on how to get from Haneda Airport to the city center) If you prepare your trip well, you'll almost always find affordable alternatives.

The cost of train and subway tickets in Tokyo does not differ much from those in other major cities, so your budget will not go down. In order to save even more, what we recommend is for those who like to walk to organize their itinerary so as to walk as few public means of transport as possible and also to walk to the fullest, which is always a wonderful way to know a city like Tokyo.

As we made our itinerary to see the city of Tokyo (click here to see), we tried to organize ourselves to divide the areas we wanted to visit, so we never had to ride more than 3 times by metro or train in one day, sometimes even just twice, so it was not worth buying the daily ticket, we just bought the tickets for each trip. Naturally, one is afraid to imagine what it will be like to buy transport tickets in a city like Tokyo, but you will find it easier than it sounds (click here on our post to find out how to do it).

3- Don't buy internet

The truth is that nowadays it is becoming increasingly difficult to travel on the internet and it is something that many people do not dispense with when traveling outside of their country. And in Tokyo, the internet really serves as a powerful aid to your trip. However, what we tried to do was get the benefits of the internet without paying. We'll explain how we did it, but for more detailed explanations, we invite you to visit our post on the best free apps for your trip to Tokyo.

The way we organized to save money on the internet was, at home, by organizing our itinerary and booking ahead in the free GPS app with the Tokyo map (see here to learn more). This way we always had our destinations organized and we didn't need the internet to reach them. However, as you can see in our post, there are still other applications that are extremely useful but that need the internet. One of the great aids was to be able to organize our metro/train trips and help buy tickets. But here comes another good news, is that all the metro/train stations we walked had free and good quality wifi. What's more, it is not very difficult to find free wifi in Tokyo (there are such apps that help, as you can see in our post) and also in the hotel room we had internet which helps a lot to organize the next day as well as to share and communicate with family and friends.

This way, with just some organization, we can make our trip without having to pay for the internet. Is it a bit more work? Yes. But it's cheaper and for those who save every penny when traveling, this option is a good way to save a little.

4- Don't buy water

Another way to save money is to travel with your reusable bottle and fill up. The water in Tokyo is very good and you will have no problem drinking it. Walking around Tokyo will have to consume a lot of water, especially in hot weather, and a good way to save money (and the environment) really is to use a reusable bottle and not buy any water. Throughout the city, there are several fountains in which you can safely fill.

5- Save on food

By this we do not mean to stop eating or to eat less than you need. The cost of food in Tokyo can be very expensive but it can also be very affordable.

We live in Portugal and we consider that Portugal is one of the best places in the world to eat well (and accompany with a good wine, for those who like), for very affordable prices. Now what we can guarantee is that after our trip to Tokyo, you can eat very well at very affordable prices.

One of the questions that make this possible is to study the places to eat. If you are going to see our Tokyo itinerary (see here), we refer to several places where we ate and many of them had already done some research on where to eat well and cheaply in the areas where we would be. And often the secret is going to eat where the Japanese eat.

Something very good is that you only pay the price of the dish you eat. Nowhere did we have to pay for the drink as there is always water and often tea available. Often there may even be soup at the entrance, for which you will not have to pay.

However, we can guarantee that we eat very good sushi, soba, ramen, for prices that would be perfectly acceptable in Portugal (around € 7 per person). By the way, the most expensive meal we had was about € 15 per person but it was a wonderful sushi lunch by the fish market Tsukiji (you can see our description here) and we can guarantee that for a meal of that quality, in Portugal we would pay at least double.

Another way to save money on food was to use the Kombinis, which are small supermarkets, or convenience stores, which are on every street in Tokyo, especially Family Mart and Lowson, something like 7 Eleven stores.

The point is that in these stores you can eat really good food and for very cheap prices. They sell packaged meals, which they call “Bentos”, with traditional Japanese dishes, at really affordable prices, and even better, when they are not sold soon, after a few hours they get even cheaper so you can buy your meal. really affordable prices and eat wherever you want. If they wish, they can heat their plate in the store and in some there are even small spaces to eat your meal.

If you want to try different types of local beer, these are the places to buy them, as you can try different types of cold beer for less than half the price you would pay at a bar.

Also in larger stores, you will find the famous Depachika, usually on the lower floor or in the basement. These Depachika are an ideal way to sample traditional dishes as they sell food to take with you, although here you can also find places to eat. Generally, the prices are great compared to eating in restaurants and believe me it is a wonderful way to eat traditional Japanese food at truly affordable prices.

Another excellent option is eating street food. This concept that wins fans around the world has a place of excellence in Tokyo. Personally, we loved the chicken kabobs, called Yakitori by the locals, which we highly recommend.

6- Visit Tokyo's free attractions

Many cities in the world have a lower cost of living than Tokyo, it is a fact but not many can visit so many attractions without spending any money. By the way, the vast majority of Tokyo's main attractions are free or for very low prices. Which is really amazing, because we can spend extraordinary days without spending any money, hard to come by in most of the big cities we know. A wonderful example of what we are talking about is something always important to accomplish, which is being able to climb to the top of one of the largest buildings in a city to see the view. In Tokyo, you have 3 possibilities to do this activity, two of which, the Tokyo Skytree and the Tokyo Tower are really paid and its cost is high but, Tokyo offers the possibility to climb to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and enjoy the skyline of the city totally free, a must-see (see here on our third day in Tokyo for more information on how to climb the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building for free).

We invite you once again to visit our 4-day Tokyo itinerary, where you can confirm that we spent little money on attractions throughout our trip to Tokyo.

7- Buy your souvenirs at ¥ 100 shops in Tokyo

Isn't it like going on vacation and buying souvenirs for yourself and your family? Well, don't worry that in Tokyo you can bring wonderful and funny memories without your budget exploding. To do this, we recommend you take a walk around the 100 Yen stores, where for 100 Yen, as the price indicates, you can buy souvenirs (and not only that but you can also buy everyday items you need) for 100 yen, a value of less than one euro or one dollar.

We invite you to read this article on Time Out about the best ¥ 100 shops in Tokyo to discover the best places to shop.

Conclusion

By way of conclusion, and once our trip is over, we can guarantee that you can have a great vacation in Tokyo without having to spend all your bank account money.

Of course, everything depends on the type of trip and traveler you are. If it is your wish, and not about to give up certain luxuries, Tokyo can and can really be a very expensive city. We, as travelers, are not properly tied to luxuries, and we do not mind waiving certain luxuries if this allows us to travel further. However, we have our needs and requirements for family travel. We don't dispense with our comfort and safety and we love to try new foods, new flavors, and new experiences.

The point is, in Tokyo, it is possible to get a good 3-star hotel for a reasonable price (when booking well in advance) and if you choose to eat where the locals eat (which is often a sign of food) you can have wonderful dining experiences at very good prices. As for getting to know the main attractions of Tokyo City, there won't be many places in the world where you can see so much, spending so little.

Regarding travel, as we mentioned, public transport within the city of Tokyo is affordable and of course, we highly recommend walking. Those who wish to ride a taxi will surely spend a lot of money.

Remember, when making your reservations, trying to avoid peak seasons, and booking your hotel along the Yamanote line, you'll find it will be of tremendous importance both in financial terms, but also in community and time wasted in travels.

We hope our ideas may help you plan your family trip to Tokyo. We would like to invite you to follow our experience with us for the 4 days of the trip, in which we describe in detail our entire trip and we believe that it will help you to plan your trip to Tokyo.

Don't forget that hotels can be very expensive in Tokyo and, you should start searching for accommodations early before the prices get really high. We always do our reservations with booking, they are our partners and it’s with them that we get the best deals. You can look for the best deals by clicking here, it won't cost you any money and, it helps us to support our blog.

In 2019 we finally had the possibility to visit Peru, one of our oldest dreams but, for those who live in Portugal, this was never one of the most accessible destinations, which is why we had to postpone it. Until recently.

Of course, like many of us, the desire to visit Peru has one main goal, which goes by to visit Machu Picchu. However, we can guarantee that, although we do not know in its entirety, Peru has much more to offer than Machu Picchu. Do not get me wrong, Machu Picchu is really wonderful, but what we mean is that if you go to Peru, do not just stop by to visit Machu Picchu, because you can add to this wonder of the world many more fabulous experiences.

As it happened to us, many of us entered Peru through Lima International Airport and if many people pick up a plane to take them to Cusco on the same day, many others decide to take advantage of it to get to know the city of Lima and reserve a few days of this trip to know this gigantic metropolis.

And that was the question that we set ourselves, from the moment we marked the trip to and from Lima: should we stay a few days in Lima or, go directly to another destination in Peru? Of course, passing in Lima and not knowing this city was something that did not make much sense to us, because our desire to explore and know the world is what leads us to travel, and only with difficulty, we would not take advantage of this opportunity. However, when we read reports about Lima, we had some concern about the safety of the city, so we decided that it would be important to do good research on the issue before deciding whether or not to stay in the city.

Although we love to travel, and especially to do with our son, we are always looking for the right care and precautions, especially in relation to health and safety issues. The safety issues were the ones that raised more concerns when choosing whether to visit Lima or not.

Is Lima a safe city to visit?

Trying to answer this question as honestly as possible, we can assure you that it is not the safest cities you will ever have the opportunity to meet, but it is also not the most dangerous in the world, which is why it's not in the top 50 most violent cities in the world, as you can check here.

Our research led us to make the decision to visit Lima and we ended up staying 3 nights in the city of Lima, and everything went very positively, which is why we highly recommend this visit. In fact, we feel that passing through Lima and catching an airplane directly to Cusco or another destination leads you to miss the opportunity to explore and experience a vibrant city, full of colors and flavors, that will certainly not disappoint you (see here's our post on 10 reasons why you should visit Lima).

However, despite the recommendation from us, we can guarantee that thousands of other tourists who visit Lima annually have the same safety issues and that is definitely a pertinent factor and if you want the trip to proceed in a positive way, as was our case, there are some "rules" that are important to follow.

In this way, we would like to leave some Safety Tips for Your Trip to Lima which, we are sure, will be very useful when it comes to getting to know this gigantic city.

Travel Safety Tips for Your Trip to Lima - Peru

1- Where to stay and where to walk. One of the fundamental questions for those who visit Lima has to do with the places where they walk and where they will be staying. The point is that not all places are safe in Lima and if some are very closely guarded by police and you may feel completely safe, many others do not have that kind of security and for a tourist, often easy to identify, may increase the degree of danger when leaving these safest places.

When we speak to the safest places, they are those most watched by local police, we refer to the neighborhood of Miraflores, Barranco, San Isiro and, the Historic Center of Lima. The reason for this security is the importance that tourism has for the country's economy and, as these are the most visited districts by foreigners, the government has done all possible to maintain high levels of security in these areas, and has everything success in achieving it. Throughout these neighborhoods, we always feel great security and we have always seen a high number of police forces to ensure the safety of all (see here our article on which is the best place to stay in the city of Lima).

2- Travel in Lima. Another reason that should be taken into account in Lima is the issue of security related to travel. The traffic in Lima can be as chaotic as you can imagine in a South American city with more than 10 million inhabitants. The city is really huge and will often have to travel using local means of transport, being impossible to cover it on foot. One of the most famous is the "combi", where the trip itself turns out to be an experience and an adventure. However, some of the small thefts that occur in the city are sometimes carried out in these means of transport, as well as in the buses, especially in the hours when they are fuller. We can not guarantee that this is a matter of danger, but we felt it would be safer to ride a taxi, which in Lima was always extremely cheap when compared to European prices (if you want to know the best way to get from Lima International Airport to the center of the city, you can see here our post that will help you make the best choice).

3- Taking taxis in Lima. Making your trips in Lima by taxi can be a very comfortable option, easy and not very expensive. Taxi prices in Lima is very cheap, at least when compared with European prices. However, there are some issues to consider when picking up your cab. What you will easily see when you walk along a road in Lima is that you will have dozens of honking horns trying to get your attention to get into the taxi. We arrived in Lima around 7am and, after leaving our bags at the hotel, we went for a walk and look for a place to eat breakfast. Our hotel was in Miraflores and, in a straight line of 1 km, surely at least 20 taxis whistled asking if we needed a taxi. At first, we found everything very strange and even a little uncomfortable but, it is something that we easily get used to and, with a quick "no, gracias", they go their way and there is no more inconvenience.

However, when you really need to choose your taxi, it is advisable to decide for one that is identified as such, because there are many taxis that offer their services on the street but isn't easy to identify them has a taxi so, for safety reasons, we advise avoiding them, since some reports of robberies are more common in these types of taxis. There are many taxi companies in Lima, several of them reliable and very professional. Some of the most famous companies in Lima are Taxi Green, Lima Cabs, Taxi Satelital or Taxidatum. We have used the Taxidatum company, which has a great service using WhatsApp, but any of those mentioned, among others, usually offer great services.

Another important issue regarding taxis in Lima is that they do not have taximeters and we do not advise you to go in without first negotiating the price. The same is true when renting a taxi by phone or message, always ask for the price and, if you are a tourist, the tendency is always to be present with a higher price, so practice your trading skills. If you get in a taxi without having the negotiated price, it will be more difficult to negotiate, and your trip will probably be more expensive. So, before entering, tell your destination, ask how much it costs and, only after you agree with the final value, it is advisable to enter.

In Lima, you also have the option to use Uber and Cabify. We used both, and unlike other countries, we did not find great differences in price that compensated. However, if you do not want to have the job of negotiating, it is always an easy, comfortable and safe way to move around the city.

4- Do not make yourself easily noted. The crimes that most easily happen in Lima are petty thefts. Of course, nobody is 100% free to go through such a situation but even for those who live in safe places, as is the case where we live, Portugal, this is a risk that exists and there is nothing like not facilitating. Here we recommend the classic measures of safety, such as not walking with bags easily "taken" to not facilitate the theft by stretching, and when sitting somewhere, do not put your belongings aside, leave them next to you. Also try to avoid displaying large amounts of money or valuables such as cameras and mobile phones and of course, follow our first advice and walk in the safest and most secure areas of Lima. Another useful advice is to leave your documents in the safe of the hotel and take a copy with you and when you use your credit card, always have at your sight, because there are cases of card cloning in Peru.

5- Be extra careful at night. We have already talked about the existence of neighborhoods that have good security levels compared to others that are less safe. However, when it comes to the night, we recommend some extra care, especially in the Historic Center of Lima, which is safe during the day but at night the safety conditions tend to decrease, which is why in our article on the best places to stay in Lima this is not one of the zones of choice, in our opinion, of course.

With regard to Miraflores, Isidro, and Barrancos, they are very busy areas and we do not feel any security problems, especially in Miraflores, where we stayed, but in other areas, the care should be higher. We recommend special care if you are a woman traveling alone, so you should always try to travel in larger groups or by using taxis from official companies.

6- Do not offer resistance. Material goods are the least precious thing we have in life. In case of assault, do not offer resistance, material goods are always possible to replace.

7- Health care. Traveling to Peru should always lead to a previous visit to the traveler  medical and, if the travel is done with children, this need becomes even greater. We recommend that you be careful with the water  you drink, do not drink from the tap, always bottled. Regarding food, in addition to the natural care you should have with the choice of places where you eat, we are forced to say that it was an extraordinary surprise because Lima is a city that offers a gigantic, wonderful gastronomic variety, one of the best in the world.

8- Fake money. It has not happened to us, luckily, but the existence of false money is something that happens in the streets of Lima. In fact, it seems that it is in Peru and especially in Lima that there are the best counterfeiters of money and they do it with enormous skill.

When we arrived in Lima, we began to notice that almost every time we shopped our money was checked by merchants almost always, and even coins, something that had never happened to us anywhere in the world. Since we are not specialists with Peruvian money, it can be difficult for us to help you how to identify fake money, but we invite you to see here this site that explains some techniques of detection. But don't forget to be very careful where you exchange money and always ask for a receipt when you do so.

9- Health Insurance. In Lima, there is good medical care. However, the best care tends to be private and, if necessary, the costs can be very high, so it is never too much to recommend that you not travel without the protection of good health insurance. Find out in advance what the insurance covers and if your destination is covered.

10- Good sense. Not only in Lima but, as in any destination, common sense is fundamental when embarking on a trip. Traveling in Lima is safe as long as you follow the usual precautions that are required of any traveler. Lima has some areas that are less recommendable to tourists and we did not visit them. If you do it, we recommend that you do so only with a local guide, but if you restrict yourself to the areas we have mentioned, you are unlikely to have any problems. As elsewhere, you should not draw attention to yourself as a tourist, has natural, you will be easily noticed, but if you often display large amounts of money or expensive electronic devices, you may increase your level of risk. However, these issues that we talk do not only apply to Lima, but they also apply to the vast majority of places we travel and there is nothing like using common sense to make a safe trip.

When using the basic rules of security and precaution, the dangers of being the victim of a crime are always reduced, and experience shows this, since Lima is visited by thousands of tourists daily and the number of reported incidents to the police are low and, believe me, that in the neighborhoods most visited by tourists, there are so many police that you will be impressed, it's impossible to compare with any other destination in the world that we visited, which does not fail to convey a sense of security to those who walk through the streets of Lima.

Lima may not be the most beautiful city you will encounter, it can even be confusing and chaotic but, if you give this city the chance to really meet it, you will discover a city full of life, culture, with a wonderful gastronomy and a way of life which will surprise you, as it happened with us, and that's why we recommend that if you have the chance you should not miss this vibrant city.

We hope that our research and experience can help when choosing where to stay in Lima. Although often, those who arrive in Peru through Lima do so with the intention of going to Lima, we invite you to reserve two or three nights at least to get to know this vibrant and lively city, for sure you will not regret your decision.

We always do our reservations with booking, they are our partners and its with them that we get the best deals. You can look for the best deals by clicking here, it won't cost you any money and, it helps us to support our blog.

As we have mentioned earlier articles, Ao Nang is an ideal place to make your base to explore the treasures of the Andaman Sea. With a nearby airport (you can see here the best way to go from Krabi airport to Ao Nang), which has a wide variety of flights from different destinations, especially from the capital of Thailand, Bangkok, and also including several international flights.

We guarantee that if the first image you have of Ao Nang is the beach, you will not be blown away. Although it is a huge and beautiful beach, it is not, in fact, the most beautiful in the area, so you may find yourself wondering why so many decide to stay in this village, instead of moving to another destination and stay next to more paradisiacal beaches.

Of course the reasons that led us to choose this destination to stay may be different from many others but, we explain why we chose this destination that we really recommend, especially for those who travel with children, such as our case (if you wish to discover more about our choice for this destination, we invite you to see our post about this decision, just click here).

One of the reasons that lead us to our decision was because, despite being a small village, it has everything we need, in particular, good hotels at great prices, much more affordable than other nearby areas. It also has a huge gastronomic offer, where there are several options for eating great food at very affordable prices.

Another reason relates to health issues, because in case of need, Ao Nang has that capacity and, if necessary, there is even more health offer in nearby Krabi, which is easily accessible.

The ease access, as previously mentioned, was also one of the reasons for staying here, because of the proximity to the airport and ease of connection to Ao Nang.

Another of the issues that captivate in Ao Nang is the familiar factor. Although it has a lot of possibilities connected to nightlife, with a reasonable set of bars and nightclubs, especially on the street by the beach, it is not as lively as nightlife, such as Phuket. And if it is true that we like to go out a little at night, choose a good restaurant and even listen to good live music, huge discos are not our wish, so Ao Nang best fits the wishes of a family trip than other paradisiacal destinations in Thailand.

If the nightclub and nightlife offerings may not be the stronghold of Ao Nang, what you will not find difficult to find will be tourist agencies that will allow you to visit all the attractions you want in this piece of paradise and, you will see, that Ao Nang ends up being a perfect place to start exploring, as options will not be lacking, you just have to organize and, of course, to have money for that, because they don't come for free. However, after a price review, what we found in Ao Nang were far more affordable prices than if we did the same activities from Phuket.

What is the best place to stay in Ao Nang?

If you have chosen to stay in Ao Nang, you will pass to the second phase: to choose the best place to stay in Ao Nang, which, it may seem confusing but, with some research, we promise it will be an easy decision.

It will not be up to us to say which is the best hotel to stay at. This decision is always up to every traveler, who will have to make the choice that suits his needs, his style of traveler, the number of travelers and, among other factors, one always very important, the budget that you want to spend on your stay.

Something very good that Ao Nang has is that it is not at all difficult to orient yourself along the village, since the generality of the "life", is located along the beach or, in the main street towards the airport, known as Airport Street, in a total distance of around 3 km, so you can easily move from one place to another on foot or, if necessary, have the always useful tuk-tuk, which for very accessible values can take you where you want.

So, when looking for a hotel, it is advisable to search within this area or, not far from it. However, there are still some factors to consider. Right next to the beach, you can have the clear advantage of accessibility, and who does not love being able to fall asleep listening to the waves of the sea and, wake up, open the window and see its beauty? However, in Ao Nang, the hotels closest to the sea that is located on the main street tend to be a bit older, so keep this factor in mind when doing your research. Another inconvenience may be the noise, although it is not very intensive, there is still a good offer for evening entertainment and if you want to stay right on the main street when exploring the desired hotel, look for the always useful opinions of previous guests in relation to the noise that is heard inside the rooms, because it is not at all pleasant not being able to sleep decently during the holidays.

A bit more out of the center but, not far away, you will find more new hotels, which may force you to walk a little to get to the beach but generally are short hikes. Some hotels that are not located by the sea have the possibility of free transport to the beach, as was the case of the Hotel we chose, Ibis Stiles Ao Nang which, despite being relatively close to the beach, 1 km, had a tuk-tuk who regularly departed for the beach and then made the return trip, which can be a very good value.

It is worth mentioning that, Airport Street, which rises from Ao Nang Beach, is the place where you can get great meals at good prices because of the restaurant offer is huge.

On the opposite side of Ao Nang is the beach of Noppharat Thara, where here too the hotel offer is vast, where it is also possible to get good quality hotels at good prices. Also in this area, you can find a wide range of restaurants, and there is also a huge offer of tourist agencies, which take tourists to the activities, whether in Ao Nang or in Noppharat Thara Beach, which are near each other.

Conclusions

As we have been referring to in our article, it is not very difficult to get you oriented in Ao Nang, since all life converges by the sea or, in the continuation to Airport Road, areas in which we recommend you to stay. As the distance from the beach is not much, what we invite is always to look for the lodging that best suits their pretensions and price range, although we can guarantee that, in Ao Nang, is possible to get very good prices for hotels with good conditions.

You can also, find hotels of superior quality outside the areas mentioned but, that has the disadvantages of, when you need to go to the beach or when you want to choose where to eat, you will have to look for a means of transport, so we advise you to take into account these questions at the time of choosing. Sometimes you can find great options in the all-inclusive option, which lessens the need to look for food outside the hotel which, in cases where you are far from the center, can be more difficult and expensive. Sometimes hotels have transportation and tour offerings, and the fact that a person is farther from the center, where the offer is higher and better prices can be obtained, may lead to accepting the prices proposed by the hotel.

What we recommend is that you do not accept the first offerings that you are given in the hotel and, in the first trips that you take in Ao Nang, look for various tourist agencies and try to reach the best prices possible. As for transport, more than accepting the prices that hotels can propose, almost certainly when you leave the hotel doors you can easily find tuk-tuks or taxis that can take you to your destinations, but of course you will not forget the usual price negotiation.

Otherwise, we highly recommend staying in Ao Nang during your trip to Thailand, it is a perfect destination with all the conditions you might need and without the floods you see in other places in Thailand.

We hope our tips help you to program your trip to Thailand and that your family enjoys Krabi. If you still don't have a place to stay in Thailand, we always do our reservations with booking, they are our partners and its with them that we get the best deals.
