Non Stop Family

We booked two days to be in Kuala Lumpur, but as one of the days we visited the Batu Caves, just near the city (you can see here how to get there), we only had one day to know the city.

Therefore, we tried to elaborate an itinerary that allowed us to know the maximum of the city in the short time we had.

Kuala Lumpur is a fantastic city with more than 7 million inhabitants, and is famous worldwide for the world's tallest twin towers, the Petronas Towers.

But it is much more than the famous towers, it is a city with characteristics as different as the people and cultures that inhabit it and, they do not cease to marvel and captivate who visits it. As a result of our small experience, we would like to share our itinerary with you, hoping to help you plan your trip through this charming city, which has left us the sadness of not being able to stay longer.

This itinerary was elaborated having not only the interests of the adults, but also the one of the child, we must not forget that the theme of our blog is family trips.

KL Sentral

We booked our hotel next to KL Sentral station. The reason we did it was because this station is the gateway to Kuala Lumpur, from which it is easy to travel all over the city. As we did not have much time to properly enjoy the city, we would spend less time to come and go from the airport, as well as to do our tour of the Batu Caves.

From this base, these were the places chosen for our family trip itinerary:

4- Masjid Jamek
5- Central Market
6- Kasturi Walk
7- Guan Di Temple

11- Petronas Twin Tower

1- Bird Park of Perdana Botanical Garden

This park is a great way to start your day, and the kids just love it. Just in the center of the city you find Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, with over 3000 birds of about 200 species, both local and from other locations.

The park is huge and we did not get a chance to see it all but we highly recommend the visit. It is possible to buy the ticket online, which allows a visit of up to 8 hours. You can buy your ticket here.

If you have more time, which wasn't our case, take the opportunity to extend your visit to Perdana Botanical Garden. For us, you'll have to stay for a next time.

2- Kuala Lumpur City Gallery

Our second stop was in Kuala Lumpur City Gallery but, we did not go in, we passed the front of the building for a quick photo of I LOVE KL.

3- Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square)

This square is linked to the Malaysian Independence of the British, as it was here that the flag of Malaysia was first hoisted on August 31, 1957. It is in this square that annually the Independence Day parades take place.

4- Building of Sultan Abdul Samad

Right next to Merdeka Square is the Sultan Abdul Samad building. This late 19th century work served as the administrative center when Malaysia was a British colony.

We passed and admired the facade of the building, which stands out its famous clock tower.

5- Masjid Jamek Mosque

Just behind Sultan Abdul Samad is Masjid Jamek Mosque. It is so close that it is worth a visit

CHINATOWN

Of course Kuala Lumpur could not miss a Chinatown and, of course, this space would have to be a great spot to eat and shop and, is certainly a must do in Kuala Lumpur. You will find everything you can expect in a Chinatown...

6- Central Markt

The Central Markt is a great place to start your visit through Chinatown. With about 90 years, this market has been restructured and is very organized and, has natural, a great place for shopping and for choosing the perfect souvenirs of Kuala Lumpur.

7- Kasturi Walk

Right next to the Central Markt is the KASTURI WALK. In this street you can also see the stalls with everything and anything else for sale, including great food.

8- Guan Di Temple

Our next stop was to see the Guan Di Temple. This Taoist temple with over 100 years old and, it deserves a visit. It's dedicated to Guandi, the Taoist god of war and literature and, its not big but, you will enjoy the quick visit.

9- Sri Mahamariamman Temple

Without having to walk a lot, you can easily get to Sri Mahamariamman Temple, also in Chinatown. This is the oldest Hindu temple of Kuala Lumpur, and one of the most popular images of the city, which attracts faithfuls and tourists like us.

10- Petaling Street Market

This market is right on street called Petaling Street, and is full of stalls where you can buy everything!!!! As well as being a great place to eat. Dont miss it, please!

11- Kuala Lumpur City Center - KLCC

And then we took the metro (LRT) until Kuala Lumpur City Center - KLCC, to end the day with Kuala Lumpur's premier brand, the Petronas Twin Tower. But this area does not just match the towers. This is an area full of green places, ideal for walking, with several hotels, shopping centers. Also ideal for eating and sightseeing, but may be more expensive than the options named above.

12- Petronas Twin Tower

So we ended our day next to the emblematic Petronas Twin Tower. These are the biggest twin towers in the world and they are so impressive!!! Tickets can be purchased online (see it here). If you want to buy them on the day, you have to go early to buy the tickets because they usually run out quickly.

And so we finished our day in Kuala Lumpur. This fascinating city deserves more days of visit but, considering only one day of visit, this itinerary allowed us to know a little the main attraction points of of KL.
